We export the stuff to you and pay more than you. Is that a conspiracy? Perhaps Obama is trying to make our prices higher too. World price and speculators have no impact eh? Maybe Harper is part of the conspiracy too. Maybe the Queen and the German Chancellor as well their prices are higher than your and ours. Come on folks. Take a break to look at reality.

"Pointing the finger at someone is always the easiest thing to do is it not?"
So true.
Who actually determines and gives the price set order?? Ask your local gas station attendant where that order comes from. Yeah, it's the oil companies. Not the White House.

Honestly... how can anyone believe that Obama has any influence over gas prices? I'm sure he's the one manipulating the numbers so that everyone in Europe has to pay more than we do. Seriously people, get a clue.

I don't know why I bother reading these posts. So many ignorant repubs in here that just want to point the finger at "that damn black president who ruins everything," it's quite sickening. I'm not a blind Obama follower by any means, but at least I'm not a blind Obama hater...

I do not agree with you people that the President has much influence on world price for oil. We export to you and have a very conservative PM and we pay more than you for gas. The levers of "influence " you refer to are state intervention into the pricing of commodities. While I have no issue with this, it. Is a form of Socialism. If he intervenes in oil why not the price of food. How about housing? I have read the howls from you Americans regarding Medicare. This is something most countries take for granted as a basic human need but you accuse him of being Socialist and a traitor. By the way Socialism is not the dirty word you think. Market Socialism is a very viable form of government. Look at Norway and Sweden as examples. If oil is too much for you and you think the state should set the price, admit you are a closet Socialist. It is liberating. You can then accept other more neccisary commodities being controlled such as food and drug prices. I forgot to say, just so know I am not a fan of Obama. He appears to be very anti Canada. He constantly favors the USAover us even to the point of stealing our jobs.

We all need to pay our fair share, even if we're barely making ends meet week after week. It's the American way. Now go eat carrot sticks and celery while I dine on some lobster tails drowned in butter with a side of grade A steak and sweet potato fries that only set us back $10k a plate.

He sure hasn't done much to curtail the speculators so you could say he has done harm by not doing anything. Even if the speculators are the only ones who cause the rise in prices he has the responsibility to the public as a whole and to protect the public from those who would harm the US citizens whether they be foreign or domestic.

When you pick who you want and pencil whip your numbner you can make them do whatever you want. I have never seen a President that never takes blame for anything it is always someone else fault. Yet he turns around and takes credit for all the up tick in drill for which he never sign premits ofr that was done by Bush, Clition and others not him .

As I said during the bush/cheney regime -- the president has little control over the price of gas (and oil). Those are determined my market forces, aided by the deregulation of the energy and financial industries, courtesy of the GOP congress and Bill Clinton.

Can't blame Obama. Oil is a WORLD commodity. Any new oil that is pumped in the US will sell at the going world price. Also demand for gas is down. We are exporting record amounts of gas/diesel/fuel oil. So any new drilling will NOT change gas prices. ONLY GOP morons say it will.

The current state of gas prices relationship to government is that government has chosen not to get involved in regulating this part of the commodities market. When gas and oil prices are set due to wealthy individuals using these commodities as a hedge against declining value of currency, it is wrong.
Gas and oil prices should be impacted solely by items that directly related to the drilling of oil and the production of gasoline and the transportation of these items to market.

Let's not forget that on the day we elected the tea party into Congress in 2010, the average price of gasoline was about $2.70 a gallon, nationally. It hasn't been anywhere close to that since. You all can vote against Obama all you want. But don't expect anything to change at the gas stations until you get those tea party bastards out on the street.
